What Is a Tempered Glass Door?
Our tempered glass doors use heat-treated safety glass up to five times stronger than standard annealed glass. The float glass panel is cut to size, its edges CNC-polished, then heated and rapidly cooled. That thermal toughening locks the surface in compression, which is where the strength comes from. It is also why the glass must be finished before tempering, never after.
The panel is shatter-resistant in daily use, and if it is ever broken it crumbles into small blunt granules instead of sharp shards. That safe break pattern is the core of the MS 1498 Malaysian safety-glass standard every door we fabricate complies with.

Tempered glass door vs regular glass door
The biggest difference is strength, and most of the damage that happens in accidents involving glass doors happens with poor-quality glass.
A regular glass door is made from ordinary annealed glass. Annealed glass has no real strength and shatters easily into pieces. Tempered glass has been heat-treated and strengthened to meet the safety requirements for doors and windows, so it does not shatter or crack the same way.
Tempered doors cost more than standard ones, because the glass goes through heat treatment and strengthening that makes it up to five times stronger than a traditional glass door. That is the whole trade: you pay more once, and the door does not become a hazard.

Installation. The tempered glass is installed on the outside of the frame, which makes it safer for anyone walking past. The most common types of tempered glass door are sliding glass, balcony sliding and swing doors.
Safety. A tempered glass door is much stronger, but it is not indestructible. If the glass does crack, it breaks into tiny pieces rather than sharp shards. Have a cracked panel repaired as soon as possible rather than living with it.
Maintenance. Low. Tempered glass does not corrode, chip or crack over time the way regular glass does, and if the door is damaged it can be replaced without spending a great deal. Tempered glass scores 8 on the Mohs hardness scale and is used in vehicle windows and windscreens precisely because it breaks into tiny pieces rather than flying shards.
