A glass balcony suits modern interiors, but the case for it goes beyond how it looks.
It provides a clear view
For a view, glass is the best material there is. It gives clarity and lets you see through in a way nothing else does, so the railing offers an unobstructed wide view. You enjoy the outdoor environment without feeling that you have become part of it, and the balcony still ventilates properly.
It opens up the space
A glass balustrade lets maximum light into the room behind it. The entryway looks brighter and airier even on a dull day, and indoor air quality improves with the ventilation. Bringing natural light deeper into a room also reduces how much artificial lighting you run during the day.
It is easy to maintain
Glass is easier to clean than the alternatives because it is non-porous, so it does not attract or hold dust. A single wipe with a damp cloth and mild detergent is the whole job, which makes it a sensible choice if you would rather not maintain a railing at all.

Railing failures under sustained load cause injuries every year. A glass balustrade gives sturdy support in a single uniform surface running from floor level up, with none of the unnecessary cuts and openings where a conventional railing develops the weakness that leads to a breakage or a fall-through.
How it is fixed
The panel is only as good as what holds it. We set 12mm toughened panels into the GW-L001A aluminium base channel, bolted to the slab and wedged plumb with the Shawpin system. The channel comes in 200mm modules cut to the run, with end cups closing it neatly at each termination.
There is a slim version of the profile at 31.7mm wide where the base needs to be visually light, and the standard 82.5mm profile where the run is long or exposed.
Balcony, railing or curtain
These three overlap, so it is worth being clear about which you need.
A glass balcony is the glazing that encloses or edges a balcony. A glass railing is the balustrade system itself, including stair and landing runs. A glass curtain goes further and encloses the balcony completely with folding panels you can open on a clear evening and close against rain.
