Want to upgrade your glass door lock? The GeWalt glass door lock is designed to keep the property safe and secure while still looking right on the door. It is made from high-quality materials and comes in a range of finishes that match any style or decor, and it is built to last even if someone tries to get through it.

The lock is high-security and made from zinc alloy or copper, which is what makes it durable and long-lasting. The range covers several types, and installation is provided by our own technicians. Everything in it is designed around five things: safety, security, durability, ease of use and affordability.

Sliding glass door lock set

A sliding lock has a harder job than people assume. The leaf is not closing against a frame; it is travelling sideways and stopping. That means the lock has to engage something on a moving panel, and it usually needs a hook-over mechanism, which also prevents the sliding leaf from being lifted out of its frame from outside.

Our sliding sets run from the compact GW-014, GW-017 and GW-018 bodies for narrow stiles, through the standard GW-011 and GW-012 families in keyed and non-keyed versions, up to the heavier GW-035, GW-041 and GW-042. The GW-013-T is the T-profile option, single or double.

Swing glass door lock set

A swing lock engages a strike in the frame, the floor or the adjacent leaf as the door closes against it. The GW-GHL-003 and GW-GHL-005 combine the handle and the lock in a single unit, available single or double, which keeps the number of cut-outs in the glass to a minimum.

The cut-out is made before the glass is toughened, and cannot be altered afterwards.

The one thing to check before ordering

Every glass door lock needs a cut-out in the panel to receive the lock body. That cut-out is made before the glass goes into the toughening furnace. Afterwards, the glass cannot be cut, drilled or filed.

On a new door this is straightforward, because we cut the glass to the lock. On an existing door it is the whole question: the replacement lock has to fit the cut-out that is already there. Send us a photo of the cut-out with its dimensions and we will tell you which references fit before you order.

What the Door Locks Range Covers

  • Zinc alloy or copper construction
  • Separate sets for sliding and swing glass doors
  • Single and double-cylinder options
  • Range of finishes to match existing ironmongery
  • Installation by our own technicians

Lock sets by door type

Sliding and swing doors lock differently, so the sets are not interchangeable. Match the reference to your door action first, then to the glass cut-out.

Every lock needs a matching cut-out in the glass, made before toughening. On an existing door the cut-out is fixed, so the replacement lock must match it.

Why Buy Door Locks From GW GeWalt?

Zinc Alloy or Copper

Both are durable and long-lasting, and both hold a finish. It is what makes the difference between a lock that still turns cleanly in year five and one that does not.

Built to Resist

The lock is designed to keep the property secure even under attempt, not merely to look secure on the door.

Sliding and Swing, Both Covered

The two door actions need genuinely different lock bodies. We stock both rather than forcing one to do both jobs.

Fitted by Our Technicians

Installation is provided by our own people, which matters on glass where the cut-out cannot be corrected after the fact.

Door Locks FAQs

What is a glass door lock made from?

Zinc alloy or copper. Both are durable and long-lasting, hold a finish well, and stand up to daily use on an entrance door.

Is a sliding door lock different from a swing door lock?

Yes, and they are not interchangeable. A sliding lock has to engage a leaf travelling sideways, usually with a hook-over mechanism that also stops the leaf being lifted out of the frame. A swing lock engages a strike in the frame or floor as the leaf closes against it.

Can I replace the lock on an existing glass door?

Only with a lock that matches the existing cut-out in the glass. Glass is cut out before toughening and cannot be altered afterwards, so the new lock body has to fit what is already there. Send a photo and the cut-out dimensions.

What finishes are available?

A range of finishes designed to match any style or decor. In practice, pick the finish already used on the handles and hinges of the same door; a mismatched lock is the thing people notice.

Do you install the lock as well as supply it?

Yes. Installation is provided by our technicians. On glass this is worth taking us up on, because a misaligned strike on a toughened panel is not something that can be filed out afterwards.

Are combined handle-and-lock sets available?

Yes. The GW-GHL series combines the handle and lock in one unit, in both sliding (GHL-008) and swing (GHL-003, GHL-005) versions, single or double.
